Lisa’s Background and Credentials:
Lisa began her career in journalism, but pivoted to psychology several years later. After earning her Master’s in Social Work at The Catholic University in 1997, she established a part time private practice; first in Washington, DC for a year, then San Francisco, CA. While maintaining a part time private practice, she served clients and supervised social workers in agency and medical facilities for several years. She worked with children and adults in foster care and in transplant work in California before moving to Florida in 2006, and into full time private practice in 2011.
She founded Wolcott Counseling & Wellness to create a community of healers focused on personal, community and societal transformation, and to provide a space for clients to work on their personal and family recovery, explore personal growth, and heal trauma.
Lisa is an Internal Family Systems (IFS) Level 2 clinician, Gottman trained (couples), a Certified Group Psychotherapist, and a Certified Daring Way™ Practitioner (Brené Brown’s methodology). Lisa weaves Dr. Brown’s work on shame, vulnerability, courage and authenticity into all her work.
Lisa pursues ongoing training to remain highly skilled in her field, and is passionate about helping abuse survivors find safety and freedom. Lisa has served in multiple leadership positions throughout her career, including on the Board of Directors for Peaceful Paths Domestic Abuse Network.
Lisa remains licensed in California, and can see California clients via telehealth.
Outside of her work, Lisa loves exploring the outdoors, hanging out with her husband, two children and her dog Rocky (WCW’s emotional support animal). She loves reading memoirs and fiction, live music, and spending time with friends.
