Welcome to Wolcott Counseling

A typical client comes to us because something big is not working in their life. They may have anxiety, sadness and emptiness, depression, relationship pain, unhealed trauma, or they feel disappointed about how their life is unfolding.

They might be struggling with identity, with religious trauma, with new parenthood roles, or feeling they have no community. Many suffer from a damaged view of themselves, unsure of how to make the changes they know they need to make. They may have no idea how to be happy, or even if they have a real right to a fulfilling, satisfying life.

We are…

We offer

Our Services

We’re committed to providing a safe space to explore identity, heal trauma, and grow. We work with all different clients—adults, kids, couples and families, working people and students. We welcome and affirm all ages, all backgrounds, and all gender identities and gender expressions. We offer in-person and telehealth services in Florida in addition to telehealth sessions in California.

Services

Individual Counseling

Individual therapy is a journey you embark on with a skilled and compassionate therapist to gain insight, experience support, reduce emotional and physical symptoms, and develop the most important and longest relationship you will ever have: your relationship with yourself.

Services

Group Therapy

We function in groups in society, yet often there are unspoken rules and norms that confuse and hurt us. Group therapy is a safe place to get authentic feedback and learn how we’re perceived by others, how we interact with others, how to develop communication skills that improve relationships.

Services

Couples Counseling

We’re taught so little about the vital skills we need to help relationships thrive. Couples therapy is a safe place to examine conflict, disappointment, and needs — and develop communication and listening skills to hear and be heard. Great relationships take some work — but the investment is worth it!

Services

Supervision

Lisa Wolcott is a Florida Qualified Supervisor for registered social work interns and mental health counselor interns. If you are interested in hiring her for supervision toward licensure, please reach out to Lisa by utilizing our contact form and begin the next step in your career today!

Services

Consulting & Education

We are here to offer our expertise on a variety of topics, including building a private practice business, sociopathy, dating violence and intimate partner violence, stalking, ways to leave a dangerous relationship, polyamory, group therapy, IFS therapy, OCD treatment, and the psychosocial aspects of solid organ transplant.

Services

DCF-Approved Parenting Courses

Co-parenting in the event of a separation or divorce can be a difficult and confusing process. Florida Family Court requires divorcing or separating couples with minor children to complete a DCF-approved parenting class before finalizing their divorce. Reach out to take the next step towards a healthier co-parenting relationship!

The Misuse of Therapeutic Terms: Why We Need to Be Careful with Labels

Misusing clinical terms doesn’t just dilute their meaning; it can also endanger others. For example, accusing someone of being manipulative or gaslighting without fully understanding the context can escalate conflicts and create unnecessary hostility. This can result in serious social consequences, from strained relationships to workplace discrimination.

What Does Child Abuse Have To Do With Me?

It’s Child Abuse Awareness Month.   No one likes to think about child abuse.  So we’re largely silent about it.   Which creates a perfect condition for child abuse to thrive and proliferate.  Because abuse of all kinds thrives in silence and darkness.   And the cost...
